About Centre Le Canal
Centre Le Canal is a public rehabilitation center that serves teenagers and adults suffering from problems with alcohol, illegal drugs, prescription drugs, and gambling. It also provides their families with support and assistance. These free, confidential services are provided by college or university-trained professionals in a variety of disciplines.
Non-Residential Services
For Adults
The center offers programs for men and women aged 18 and up with drug or alcohol problems. The personalized approach helps individuals acquire certain skills needed to break free of substance addictions and lead an independent life. This program is also available for people with legal or mental health problems.
For Teenagers
This program is tailored to young people aged 12 to 17 with consumption problems that can cause difficulties for themselves or those around them. It is designed to get teenagers thinking about their consumption behavior and the risks it can pose. Parent participation is encouraged.
For Families and Loved Ones
This program is designed for the family and social network of people with consumption or gambling problems. The goal of the program is to identify the difficulties created by the problem and provide a better understanding of the addiction process.
For Problem Gamblers
This treatment program for problem gamblers entails an average of 17 meetings followed by a series of steps designed to help people learn how to stop gambling. Throughout the treatment, problem gamblers learn about the reality of games of chance and money. They also learn how to avoid situations that trigger their urge to gamble.
Residential Services
For Adults
The adult program is for people aged 18 and over who need more intensive therapeutic supervision. People receive daily support and coaching in a safe and structured environment. Duration: 28 days. Program offered in Baie-Comeau.
For Teenagers
This program is provided by resources from outside the region working under an agreement with Centre Le Canal, which acts as referent. It is designed for young people aged 12 to 17 who have considerable physical, psychological, and social needs. Through this residential program, they benefit from multiple weeks of closer monitoring.
